Produced in the Sliabh Aughty Mountains, Co. Galway, heather honey is made from the nectar of heather flowers. Giving it a distinctive, strong flavour and a dark amber colour, it’s known for its rich taste and thick consistency. It’s often said to have a slightly woody or earthy undertone. Raw and natural, heather honey is packed with antioxidants and has a range of health benefits. Its strong, rich smoky taste has been compared to toffee, and gets stronger the longer the honey is stored.

A study done in Trinity and DCU showed the health benefits of Irish heather honey are comparable to those of Manuka honey.
